Can an AI understand me?

Can an AI understand my specific mental health condition?

It can know general information about conditions, but it can't assess or diagnose you, and you shouldn't let it try. Only a qualified professional can do that. If you live with a diagnosis, keep your care team at the centre.

It can know general information about conditions. It cannot assess or diagnose you, and you shouldn't let it try. Only a qualified professional can do that.

Saati is not built around diagnoses. It is built around the person: what kind of day you had, what's on your mind, what would help a little right now.

If you live with a diagnosed condition, keep your care team at the centre. Saati can sit alongside them.

What the research says

A 2025 Stanford-led study found AI models showed significantly more stigma toward alcohol dependence and schizophrenia than toward depression.1

In the same study, human therapists responded appropriately 93% of the time, while several leading AI models were appropriate less than 80% of the time.1

The APA says there is no consensus that AI chatbots have the abilities mental health care requires, such as understanding a person's history and context and assessing clinical risk.2
